Try these Father’s Day activity ideas
Father's Day retro TV photo frame by Nat @smallfriesgames
“My kids know their dad loves watching TV so we came up with this cute retro TV craft. Feel free to omit the antenna and buttons to create a classic photo frame instead.”
You will need:
- 1 small box
- Paint or 1 sheet of Paper (any colour)
- 1 pipe cleaner
- 2 pom poms
- 3 buttons/gems/sequins
- Glue stick
- Sticky Tape
- Scissors
- Colouring Pens/Pencils
- 1 Photograph or drawing
Do this activity:
- Use the sticky tape to seal any open sides on your box.
- Paint your box or cover your box in a sheet of paper. If you use paper, simply wrap it like a present, but put glue on all the sides so it sticks.
- Once dry, cut a rectangle out of one of the big sides to represent the TV screen.
- Poke 2 holes (using a pencil) in the centre of the top side.
- Thread a pipe cleaner through the 2 holes to create the antenna.
- Twist the pipe cleaner to secure 1 pom pom at each end of the antenna.
- Glue on your buttons/sequins/gems in a line down one side of your TV (next to the 'screen').
- Decorate your frame a bit more if you like.
- Place a photo or drawing inside (feel free to draw a special picture for the occasion).
That's it! Dad will love seeing your creation on the telly.
Father's Day jigsaw puzzle from Nat @smallfriesgames
My kids and I are big fans of games and puzzles. This simple puzzle is fun for kids to make and there will be lots of laughter watching their dad put it together on the big day.
You’ll need:
- 1 piece of A5 paper
- 1 piece of A5 card/cardboard (this can be cut from an old cereal box etc)
- Colouring pens/pencils
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Do this activity:
- Draw a Father's Day picture on the paper (or write a special message).
- Glue the picture to the card.
- Once dry, cut up the picture to create a jigsaw puzzle - don't make the pieces too small. (Feel free to draw the shapes you will cut using a pencil first.) Cutting up the jigsaw is fantastic for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- That's it! Feel free to store your jigsaw puzzle in a paper bag or in your Father's Day card envelope.
Father’s Day Picture Card by Sheila @Rascals and Rainbows
This is a simple but effective craft for little ones to try this Father’s Day. Not too many resources are needed either which makes it a handy activity for a last minute craft.
You’ll need:
- White or Coloured card
- TP roll
- Red Paint
- Photograph
- Glue stick
- Pencil/pen
- Ruler
- Glitter glue/decorations
Do this activity:
- Pour some red paint into a dish.
- Squeeze the TP roll into the shape of a heart.
- Print hearts on the top part of the coloured or white card (fold card in half first if making into a card)
- Cut around the children in the photo and glue to bottom of page.
- Use a ruler to draw lines from the photograph (from hands for best result) to each balloon.
- You can colour the balloons/create patterns on them or use glitter glue/sequins to decorate them.
- Write a message for Daddy.

To the moon and back crumpet printing by Misha @two_sons_in_sussex
You’ll need:
- Crumpets (homemade or store bought)
- Paint and paintbrushes
- Paper
- Pens
Do this activity:
- Paint a crumpet with a rough design of Earth and the moon, your toddler can then go over where you marked with paint.
- Once painted turn each “crumpet stamp” over on to card.
- We then wrote “I love you to the moon and back”.
- (PS. Keep a spare few unpainted crumpets on hand as your painted crumpets won’t be edible.)
DIY Dad puzzles by Molly @Create, Make and Play
The perfect little personal DIY puzzle that takes seconds to make.
You’ll need:
- Lolly sticks
- Photo
- Glue
- Clear tape
- Craft knife
Do this activity:
- Lay the lolly sticks next to each other and place a big of tape across them to stop them moving.
- Then turn over.
- Stick the photo on top and turn back over again.
- Then use a craft knife to cut between each stick.
- To make the puzzle last longer, you could place clear tape over the picture.
